ZTE revealed its latest 5G smartphone, featuring the Snapdragon 865 processor. The Axon 10s Pro 5G is the world’s first smartphone with Qualcomm’s flagship processor along with 5G support. The high-end phone will be made available in the first half of next year, beginning China. It remains to be seen if ZTE brings the smartphone to India, given it no more sells the ZTE-branded devices in the country.
The Axon 10s Pro’s claim to fame is the flagship Snapdragon 865 processor. Announced earlier this month in Hawaii, the Snapdragon 865 is a top-tier chipset that powers most high-end smartphones coming in 2020, including the Samsung Galaxy S11, OnePlus 8 or Google Pixel 5. Qualcomm says it the Snapdragon 865 will be shipped only in a select few smartphones and will be bundled with a separate 5G modem, the X55.
The Axon 10s Pro 5G does indeed pack the latest and most powerful chipset by Qualcomm, along with its 5G capabilities. Thus ZTE’s flagship will support 5G networks in dual-mode NSA / SA. This means the handset will be able to take advantage of a larger number of 5G bands for a smoother browsing experience. Additionally, the smartphone will also adopt the latest WiFi 6 standard.
Other hardware on the Axon 10s Pro 5G (that we know of) includes high speed LPDDR5 RAM (most likely starting at 8GB); UFS 3.0 fast storage and a 4000mAh capacity battery.
The smartphone will also come with ZTE’s self-developed new-generation all-scenario AI engine Z-Booster 2.0 algorithm, which intelligently allocates system resources through AI. Accelerating and optimizing games and multi-tasking to maximize the performance of the machine.
The ZTE Axon 10s Pro will then support Link-Booster intelligent network acceleration. Allowing the smartphone to use multiple concurrent network connections at the same time and handle complex signal environments more easily.
Full details of the Axon 10s Pro are not out yet, but we do know that the device will ship with the new LPDDR5 RAM. UFC 3.0 storage and a 4000mAh battery. The phone also supports NSA dual-mode 5G and the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard. The device will ship with MiFavor 10 UI, which is based on Android 10.
Since the Axon 10s Pro will be 5G-enabled, there will be a mode to connect primarily to 5G networks or to ignore them, depending on the coverage in your area. ZTE also boasts the device will be just 175g in weight and 7.9 mm thin, making it one of the thinnest 5G devices in the market.
