The Samsung’s Galaxy A50 has been quite the success story in the past year, selling brilliantly in markets around the world.Now however, it's facing an issue as a recent firmware update has hindered the fingerprint registration process. Galaxy A50 users running on firmware versions A505FNXXS3ASK9 and A505FDDS3ASK8 are claiming that they can no longer register new fingerprints.

The phone is powered by the Exynos 9610 soc with a Quad -Core 2.3GHz & Quad-Core1.6GHz configuration. Memory is 4GB, 6GB, with the device offering 64GB, 128GB internal storage and up to 512GB of external memory. The Galaxy A50 features Accelerometer, Fingerprint Sensor, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor and Hall Sensor. Notable features include Bixby, Samsung Pay (NFC). The device measures 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7mm and weighs 166g.
A recent update for the Galaxy A50 seems to break the fingerprint registration process on the device, despite improved fingerprint recognition being the purported benefit of the update.
There is no doubt the recent update contains a bug, causing these problems to emerge. Thankfully, this means the solution can also be brought to the phone by means of another update. It is up to Samsung to fix this bug and roll out a solution. For now, we can only advise you to keep using your old fingerprint registrations, in case you have not yet deleted those, as they seem to work fine. Alternatively, you can use other methods to protect your Galaxy A50, such as facial recognition, PIN or password.
