Rolled out September 2019 security update for Motorola Moto X4


It’s always a matter of importance when a two-year-old device gets timely updates. Motorola is pretty notorious for not being quite punctual with its software updates. However, Motorola Moto X4 has a bit of better luck than its companions. The device has been getting regular software patches from the last few months. In fact, it also got a major step up to Android 9.0 Pie. The Moto X4 was launched with the now-extinct Android 7.1 Nougat.


Now coming back to the current scenario, the Moto X4 is getting September 2019 Android security patch. The OEM has announced of the Moto X4 September update on its support page. Here you can have a look at that.


From the changelog, we can infer that the update only brings the security patch. Yes, there may be some minor tweaks to the device. However, there are no major upgrades as such.

As of now, there are no user reports from anywhere who have received the Motorola Moto X4 September 2019 update. So, maybe it will roll in phases. First, a limited number of users will get the update. Then the update will seed globally.



OTAs are server-dependent. Besides, there are other factors like tele-carrier and geographical region which affects the rollout of a software patch.
